Portfolio & Case Studies — Bookkeeping Cleanups and Monthly Work | LedgerlyHQ

Portfolio

Real bookkeeping challenges. Practical solutions.

A look at the kind of work I take on, written without client names or figures. Every engagement stays confidential — what's shared here is the problem, the approach, and the outcome.

All case studies are anonymized. No client names, logos, or financial figures are published.

eCommerce Cleanup project

eCommerce Bookkeeping Cleanup

The problem

Messy transactions, unreconciled accounts, and financial reports nobody could interpret. Platform payouts had been recorded as revenue, so both sales and fees were wrong.

What I did

Rebuilt the chart of accounts, re-categorized historical transactions, split settlements into gross sales, fees, and refunds, and reconciled every account through the current month.

The result

Cleaner books, reconciled accounts, and reports that finally showed real revenue and true channel margin.

Rental Property Bookkeeping

The problem

Income and expenses from several properties ran through shared accounts, making it impossible to see how any single property performed.

What I did

Introduced property-level tracking, reorganized income and expense coding, separated deposits from revenue, and split mortgage payments into their components.

The result

Clear property-level financial information each month, and a much simpler year-end handoff.

Small Business Monthly Bookkeeping

The problem

The owner was spending evenings on bookkeeping, and the books were still finished late and inconsistently.

What I did

Built a recurring monthly workflow: fixed close date, a standing document request list, reconciliation of every account, and a short report summary each month.

The result

Reliable monthly financials, far less administrative work for the owner, and no year-end catch-up.

Multi-channel Reconciliation

eCommerce Multi-Channel Bookkeeping

The problem

Sales across several marketplaces and payment processors, each settling on its own schedule, made monthly reconciliation slow and unreliable.

What I did

Standardized how each channel's settlements are summarized and imported, then reconciled every processor account to bank deposits on a fixed monthly cycle.

The result

Dependable monthly reporting across all channels, with revenue and fees visible per platform.

How every engagement runs

The same discipline, whatever the project.

Written scope first

You know what's included, what it costs, and when it's done before work starts.

One request list

Missing documents tracked in a single running list — no scattered reminder emails.

Documented decisions

Judgment calls on coding are written down, so the treatment stays consistent next year.

Confidentiality

Client details, figures, and documents are never published or shared. Ever.
